We ended up getting two, so they're company for each other when I'm at work. Are you getting a rescue kitty/ies, Onimaru?

I love cats!

Ah, the box. What did we do before it.

I'm not even a cat lady (I do like cats, just don't have them), but I know all the best places in my town to get free boxes when I do one day have feline companionship.

Don't know yet, we're simply going to go with the flow and get one either from a pet shop or a breeder. Going the Kitten route something we can raise right from the start. Smile

Also Stripey I do owe you an apology, when I was speaking in my first thread I spoke as if you were a woman and promised to apologize if I was wrong, in seeing your signature it seems I was indeed wrong. So I'm sorry for misidentifying your gender. Smile

It's cool. The only person that sig is for is Rothide anyway, since he just keeps doing it, and I suspect he's attempting to be a deliberate dick about it. It's also a bit of fun, because I am always doing things like cooking and crocheting, and I love glitter and bright colors.

As soon as I can motivate myself, though, I'll have a lovely new grumpus signature. Might change it at the next appearance of Frothide.

STRIPEYPANTS IS A GREAT SNARLY GRUMPUS.

I think you should do a series of "STRIPEYPANTS IS..." sigs.

My Fiance actually introduced me to Crocheting, I find it relaxing, so whenever my net goes out for a few days I do it to keep from punching things like a caveman Razz

Oni, please consider rescuing someone from a shelter instead of a pet shop.

A breeder I can understand, check his cred and be prepared for a high price tag to get precisely what you want. Pet shops are, for the most part, fronts for pet mills.

If you look around at a shelter or the SPCA, hey you might just find that special someone. The life you save may be your own.

Oh, and i also agree with the shelter thing. A lot of pet shops (Like petco) have cats from shelters come in as well,so it's a convenient easy way to get a cat.

Have you ever heard of newstitchaday.com? They have knitting videos as well, but I like it for their crochet things. Good explanations.

especially in the spring, shelters will have kittens. also, they will frequently provide a lot of essential health stuff for very little $$. i got my boy from the local animal control shelter; for $52, they neutered him, microchipped him, wormed him, gave him all his shots (except i think felv- it was one he only needed if he was going outdoors) - what else - oh, paid for an initial vet check, gave him a flea treatment and gave me a 1-lb bag of catfood.

my girl was a free kitten, getting just the vet stuff cost about 3 times that. (my boy was actually 1/2 price, because he was over 6 months old).

or, you know, you can trap one (or more):

of course, you do need to be careful about the size of the box you put out:

Thanks for all the advice guys, I may just urge her to go that route, but the GF/Fiance is the one that has experience with cats, I'm a noob, never had a pet before let alone a Kitty. So I'll probably defer to what she knows from experience, but still a rescue Kitty sounds awesome.
