Well, Seymour liked him - the others frequently tried to involve him in their activities of friendship, but Seymour got the closest to actually being his friend. Close enough that he was confused as the proper terminology for their strange friendship-slash-rivalry. But despite that, due to Li'l E's experiences he's never been able to trust or appreciate anyone around him, always being suspicious of them and their motives. He didn't consider anyone a friend - certainly not Seymour, even though Seymour considered him a friend.

Of course, now that he's been through the lethe'd he's capable of friendship - he is no longer suspicious or mistrusting of those around him... however, he had still pushed everyone away and no one but Seymour has any reason to assume that he's changed his stance regarding friendship, what with how he previously preached about and praised hatred and animosity.

A weak story, for the ending is the same as the beginning, and the dreary middle lacks explosions. But it does appear to be a smash with its zombie focus group.

Well, some of them at least got along with him relatively civilly (I may dig up some archive examples later). They were willing to like him, but he wouldn't let them.

They'd probably be willing to like him now, too, if Tat was willing to go to the trouble of showing them interacting with each other. They all live within like a five block radius of each other, for heaven's sake, are they going out of their way to avoid each other now?

Heck, do the other characters (aside from Seymour) even know that Pebbles is living in Li'l E's house? That alone should warrant instant prurient interest from Slick and Squig, both of whom would no doubt like to be living with "hot chicks" themselves.

Meanwhile, Crim's girlfriend Fuchsia lives where, exactly...?

But I've gone down that road many, many times.

I never thought of Seymour as thinking of Li'l E as a friend. I'll have to poke through the archives and see how that reads.

BTW, FUSCHIA LIVES AT MY HOUSE, GUYS.

I imagined their relationship as something akin to that of squabbling siblings.

Going all the way back to when Li'l E first appeared:

During their first meeting, Li'l E was actually quite friendly to Seymour, certainly friendlier to Seymour than Seymour usually was to the people he tried to "convert."

And, a few strips later, Seymour defaulted to showing concern for Li'l E even though he'd showed up for no other reason than to attack him.

Li'l E then proceeded to try to have a civil conversation with Seymour, but Seymour would have none of it.

Who'd have figured, huh?

I wonder what stories Pebbles got in store for Storytime. Maybe she'll get another follower for her Jay Z fellowship.

In this case, I remembered that Li'l E first appeared in a sequence called "Fanatic," so I just typed that in as a search word.
