Happy Birthday both of you! Very Happy Adyon's is not belated enough for the celebration to not be appropriate.

Also how in the world is that attitude unladylike?

This seems off to me because I've seen such outbursts of unfiltered euphoria more often from females, due to how they weren't taught to suppress their emotions and all that.

I know, right? To me it looks like it's men that are expected to shrug it off and move along while women celebrate the approval of others.

Yes, but we have to celebrate it quietly. Smile and nod, blush, deny the compliments. Saying "thank you" can cause the complimenter to be confused at your lack of modesty. Saying "I know" can cause plain aggression.

When I was in middle school, I drew a lot, and there was a boy in my class that drew a lot. We were both good at it. When people complimented me, I'd have to wave it off and pretend I wasn't that good. When the boy was complimented, he would smirk and say, "I know." ("Wow, that's really good!" "I know.")

I tried this simple "I know" once when another girl complimented a drawing, and she wrinkled her face up and said, "You're not supposed to say that." This was acceptable behavior from the boy, though.

Edit: I almost forgot: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! <3

Yeah, I mean it's not like Slick ever got to jump around in joy, or Squigley got to show his unadulterated love for porn by jumping in the air with love hearts, or Lil'E celebrated every interaction he had with the Devil in an extremely obvious visual way.

Anyway, it's a cartoony comic, everyone shows their emotions through exaggerated outbursts.

One of my favorite posts from Shapely Prose ended with an invitation for readers to actually announce their skills and talents.

Some women feel fine taking credit for their skills and hard work, but a whole lot have been trained to act humbly while someone else praises. Women aren't supposed to be proud.

Monique shouldn't take it too personally. I'm not even convinced there was a cause and effect between The Patriarchy and the BOK.

I mean, c'mon, did The Patriarchy do those? I don't think so. No matter what you do, Hell's gonna getcha.

I think I just summed up some major religions there, actually...

Who says she's talking to the patriarchy? It happened after she did something, so it makes sense to assume it was for her behavior. Squig assumed that too, and Squig was talking to whatever power was in charge of dropping him into Hell.
