That's not 'mesmerizing', I think...

She's likely having a PTSD flashback you bespectacled devil beanpole. Who has an undercut exactly as I imagined.

Panel four I am so aboard the Vainglorious as androgyne train.

Odd how she used to look at stuff like that every day and be totally unfazed, even after she met Crim. But, of course, she's different now.

Oh, and I just caught on: VG is going to become Crim's rival for Fuchsia's affection. Riveting.

Fuchsia is having a bad reaction to his work and he's going to reach out and be sympathetic, the first guy other than Crim to care about her, the first Devil Guy to care about her, and it just goes on like that.

Or not.

Yeah, I should've said that in the first place. "VG is going to become Crim's rival for Fuchsia's affection. Or not." Wink

Really, when you think about it ("So don't think about it."), although relationships are supposed to be about compromise, Crim hasn't changed a bit as a result of his relationship with Fuchsia; Fuchsia, in contrast, has more or less rebuilt her entire characterization. Admittedly, Crim never asked her to do that, but still, that could be a good starting point for any effort to come between them. Or not.

***

On the other hand:

VG: "So, where do you live?"
F: "Uh."

And then she panics and flees. Wink

Fuchsia should obviously outshine him with her art now. Very Happy

Just noticed Vainglorious doesn't appear to have the triangle tip at the end of the tail. Is this an error or has it always been like that?

Well, who expects a Devil to be negatively influenced by an image of the pits of Hell? Some Devils probably aspire to torture innocent souls for The Devil.

Now that I think about it, some humans probably do, too.

A thought comes to me that Vainglorious is supposed to be a stereotypical Twilight-like supernatural teen-drama-romance kind of character. I like his pranks, though.

How so? They didn't do as much as speak to each other. Strangers, technically.

Fuchsia is certainly having a different reaction to this piece of art than the critic did a few days ago.

She may be having a PTSD flashback, or, since this is devil art, it may not be perceived the same by everyone viewing it. Actually, as an artist herself, she may not perceive it the same as a non artist. My appreciation for art is different than my daughter's, who has degrees in art education and art therapy, and does a fair business selling her own art. That's why I enjoy going to art galleries with her, she sees things I totally miss.

I don't think it's straight up horror in Fuschia's eyes, there might be some awe there as well.

It's not uncommon for artists to weight their own work against others, in fact it's an occupational hazard for creative types.
