And the thing is, he carries a black cloth swag bag. If you're going to steal burgers, your going to want a heat insulating carrier, not a soggy satchel. So not only does he gad about unaprehended, his heists are incompetently completed.

And the burgers themselves retail at 0.99!

There is no resale margin!

Unless of course he's stealing them purely for consumption. But surely taste alone would dictate an occasional change in his modus operandi. And yet I don't hear of any Kentucky Fried capers, or Subway shennanigans, or Papa Johns pilfering!

And don't even get me started on the electoral college system that allows a double stacked sandwich to run unopposed year after year. That sash is a goddamn afront to burger based politics everywhere, man.

My dad was a hamburglar by trade. Back when it was a man's job. Before the days of "cheese whoppers" and "super-sizing" and "would you like extra bacon with that". Back when it meant something.

He was a union man. And the year before he retired he was awarded the key to the city. He argued from his heart, held fast to his beliefs and his emotional approach appealed to many across the spectrum. Yet he was a rational man and did his best to hide his disappointment when I abandoned my early successes in the trade for the promises of art school. I could tell he wasn't lying when he said I did him proud.

A massive coronary cut his retirement short. His mind had been freed from the constant capers, chases, heists, but the change was too sudden for his body to deal with. Saturated and happy, his obese, glistening form stared out at me from the coffin. We covered him in onion rings and sent him to the grill.
