Well this sucks, I kinda hoped that he would change a bit... Curse you Tat!!!! *sky blackens and thunder is heard* I... I mean, I love the way that we are keeping atleast one douchebag character who has no hopes of redeeming himself.. Thank you Tat... *sky clears*

Seriously though, while most of my fucks are reserved for Crim and Fuschia, I do like good chracter development, and it sucks to see a character with potential just revert to their original state...

Is it not possible that this is character development in the right direction, even if only a centimeter in the right direction. He is giving her the chance to deny him and giving her the power in the situation even if it is still a negative one. He could simply have come on to her in a way he has in the past where he gives the impression of desired ownership.

However, the comic as a whole is different now, and while we may have once laughed at the occasional Slick-sexual-harassment gag, the tone of the comic has changed such that this kind of bullshit is just not funny to me anymore.

If you can still laugh at Slick treating women like shit, then more power to you, I guess. I just can't see him that way anymore.

I completely agree. I'd even say that much more has changed than that: the way the world looks, the unrecognized intentions of speakers, the whole dialogue of the Internets. It really is like a veil is lifted. Things I was never aware of revealed to me, crystal clear and clearly ugly.

- I used to think women shouldn't get drunk. Now I rail against a world where drunken men are excused their behavior but drunken women blamed.
- I used to think women should cover themselves. Now I think hate to sacrifice that little bit of liberty.
- I used to think women should converse politely, waiting for a turn to speak, not interrupting. Now I see their words pass, unspoken, unheard, or drowned in hate.
- I used to be suspicious of reported rapes, thinking they were made up for getting money by lawsuits.
- I used to believe in "fake geek girls".

I used to think it normal and natural for men to leer and pester. That was just what they did. They drive by in cars whistling and calling. They sit a bit too close and put their hands on your arm. They pull you to dance when you don't want to. You were supposed to take it as a compliment.

I watched my boyfriend's Facebook acquaintances joke about rape. "If a hooker is raped, is that rape or theft?" And the worst part is, along came several of the guy's other friends, and they all jumped in, they all thought it was funny, they all thought it was funny to laugh at rape.

---

The world of Sinfest used to be such a world. A world where Slick would say crude, sexual things to strangers, and they would laugh and chat with him. It happened all the time. Things like butt touchy would've fit right in. I'm glad we've come a long way.

The truth is going to a stranger and requesting a butt touching is inappropriate, and it's better for everyone if we're aware of how inappropriate it really is!

it's actually just short for grotesque, I think
as in malformed/horrific because japan likes to change the meaning of English words that they borrow around a bit

.... and, yes, also short for ero(tic) guro nonsense, which was an art movement
anyway, works involving both gore and eroticism combined are indeed a subset

also I suppose there's some more recent usage where it does just mean gore, because words have whatever meaning their usage suggests, and English speakers like to change the meanings of words from Japan that were originally borrowed from English into something even less like the meaning of the original English word for some stupid reason but I DON't CARE BECAUSE THEY ARE WRONG. wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong

To the readers who are dissatisfied with this comic: would you prefer that the comic stick to ideologically charged arcs, to the exclusion of comic humor with staple characters acting true to character?

Doesn't matter what I like, if Tat posts it, I'll read it.
