Slick... You don't get it. When it comes to avoiding porn, no cookies is not a shame. It's the reward.

The absence of vice is not virtuous in itself, for at any given moment one is not committing an infinite number of vicious deeds, without in consequence being infinitely good. Yet the effort to reform vice is probably virtuous. Paradoxically, it would seem to follow that, in the absence of any other good deeds, Slick shall only be (mildly) virtuous for as long as he is struggling to reform his porn addiction, but that, once it is fully reformed, and he no longer struggles at it, he shall receive no glitter points at all. Hence Slick is only good while trying not to be bad, but, once he is no longer bad, he shall not be good.

I just hope he invests his half-glitter point in a glittery hedge fund of some sort while he is still earning them.

He can both be sincerely trying to better himself while insincerely expecting rewards. He might figure them to be a by-product of a more virtuous lifestyle.

He just has yet to learn that it doesn't work that way. Everyone has their own path to walk, after all. Smile

Slick just got a Bum deal, those angels usually just give that glitter away in the bucketload but just half a glitter! BUM DEAL!!! And not really what he wanted to begin with, but if he was really expecting a cookie he deserved it.

If the angels want Slick to change his behavior, withholding rewards is exactly the wrong way to go about it. Since he is rewarded by porn, mocking him for imperfect motivation is an easy way to actually send him back to what he's comfortable with. Assuming Slick is genuinely addicted to porn, the best way to reinforce new behavior is to reward him lavishly for the behavior wanted (in this case, abstinence from porn). Over time, rewards can be reduced as the behavior becomes internalized. Eventually, he can rewarded for actually changing his attitude towards women and not just for eschewing porn. This is called shaping, an established method of behavior modification.

Or it could be that Slick is just being narratively used as a cheap punching bag.

Ah, behaviour modification. Good point. Certainly less morally dubious than 1984-style forced re-education. Unless glitter points have some effect on the mind of the recipient, so that the angels are constrained from giving them to someone on a path of self-reformation, since that has nothing to do with godishness. It's conceivable that a high enough dose of glitter in this setting might confer 'grace', in the (aptly!) Christian sense - making it possible to resist the impulses of Fallen nature, and all the rest. But then he would only be resisting pornography through the grace of God, rather than through his own powers; for which reason he wouldn't earn any cookies.
