I think Tat's going for the Triple Goddess symbolism. Xanthe is the maiden, Nana is the crone and Lile's mom is the -apparently dead- mother.

So, does that mean we'll see Halloween-based strips for the week? Please say yes!

Do I miss much by not having wathced "Oh my goddess"? Assuming that's where you get Bellandy from.

The Dark Sisterhood were witches.

but more importantly: SHAKA-LAKA-BROOM!

Seriously, that's the important thing here. I mean, symbolism and stuff and yeah, but...

(Also she totally needs to race with The Pets...)

You can't attain a higher rank than "granny".
Especially in anything tangentially related to witches.

All I have to say is SHAKA LAKA BROOM!

Also we have the Maiden, the Matron, and now the Matriarch. Very nice.

Considering that the name "Belldandy" is a bastardization of Verthandi, no you don't need to know the show, though Belldandy and her sisters were specifically patterned after the Norns.

Not that you shouldn't watch it.
