I could be married, but I can also see myself just living with someone or dating too. |

I don't really want to be married. Someone would have to be seriously tricky to get me to marry them. |

Jug's thread about how to pop the question to his girlfriend got me wondering about how people on the forum view marriage.

I like marriage in some ways, but if it was all the same to my partner I could be just as happy being in a long-term, committed relationship. Still, the legal angle would change as I got older, or if we had kids. Power of attorney and next of kin status would be important. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. I am a happy, happy married person. The fact that I haven't seen my fat fucking psycho ginger lesbian wife for five years has been a major contributory factor in my happiness.
Everyone should try sham marriage at least once. |

Oh, she's a ginger? Is it true they don't have a soul? _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. I’ll do anything to protect them from hurt, the human race is what I serve." - Baba Brinkman |

Last weekend a guy offered me $10,000 to marry him for two years. He's from Argentina. I passed.
I've always imagined myself getting married some day, but most of my closest friends have told me that they can't see it. When I ask why, they can't really explain themselves. They say things like, "Well, it's just a feeling I have."
I'm okay with not getting married, but I'd like a long-term, committed relationship, thanks. Oh, and if I'm going to have kids, I'd like to do it within a marriage. |

i've gotten more and more used to the idea of marriage over the years. i used to think i wouldn't put up with anyone long enough, but i figure i am in fact capable of that now.
mostly it just makes it easier legally, and it's something at least some of my important family members would expect, and it still seems like somehow a greater commitment than just dating or living together because there's no minimum term like a lease agreement or something. it just seems like a decision made entirely with the future in mind instead of just the present. |

I was engaged at one point.
I got over it.
I definitely see myself ending up married sometime in the future. |

It's getting less common now, but that didn't use to be unusual at all. |
