This is why people don't like you, Squig.

Speak for yourself, not others.

Squig's simplicity, in a world full of political correctness, refreshing in its honesty. He represents our most basic animal instincts - to deny them is to deny humanity it's origins.

Plus, he doesn't condemn - and if his open voyeurism is so self-defeating it defines his character [it isn't the first time he's done this].

If you use "world full of political correctness" unironically like it's a genuine complaint, then chances are you're just annoyed that you can no longer spout bigoted/offensive crap and that the people it hurts are allowed to tell you to shut up.

Squig is not meant to be someone you admire.

Squig is to be laughed at, rather than with.

Give Slick credit. Once he would have been right next to Squig, if not trying to get in front of him for a closer view.

Pshaw, give cute li'l ol' Squiggy a break. Sexualizing female friendships for the sake of male googly-eyed entertainment is all just good fun, and, well, boys will be boys.

/sarcasm

Guess what. I like Squig as a character. I can do that while also knowing and acknowledging that his behavior is not okay, admirable, or something to be emulated.

Just because we originated a certain way doesn't mean we should keep it up. I was born naked in a puddle of piss, blood, and feces, and chances are good that you were, too. Should everyone then go walking around naked covered in piss, blood, and feces? Or maybe...we can acknowlegde we were all born like that, but luckily soap was invented at some point.

And even if we could agree that it was an "animal instinct" to act as Squig does, it seems the whole point of people having computers, for example, and creating webcomics, was that somebody said, "I want more than what nature has to offer. I want better." Going against that is as much, or perhaps even more, against our instincts. To the core, we are greedy bastards that aren't satisfied with what the other animals have.

In other news, Abbie and Monique's interaction is so adorable.

And at the risk of putting myself in the same class as Squig, I now ship it harder than ever Very Happy

The fact we have things like a cortex really undoes the 'natural instinct' thing. Yes, our lizard brains push us to do things like pursue lots of sex omg sex. But we have some neat logic circuitry that overrides that. It's pretty awesome.

But then I don't understand why people choose Gorilla behavior over Chimp behavior as the desirable model, because that's just screaming, "I wish I had evolved to have a tiny tiny penis." And that's silly.

Why would you want them to choose Chimp behavior? That sounds pretty damn awful. Unless you're talking about Bonobos.

I'm talking about how chimps evolved large penises because female chimps had choices, while gorillas evolved small penises because female gorillas did not have choice. It is a dick joke.

I like Squig but I dislike what he's doing right now. It's a pretty obvious jerk move (plus sitting so obviously close? intention to disrupt seemingly).
