Depends on the perv, naturally. Ain't none of us normal, but some of us are more harmful than others. See?

Makes sense to me. After all, who is least likely to judge them?

Probably other sex workers? Asexuals aren't really all that more likely than most other groups to be sex worker positive. As I said, the reason I know a few is because I'm a part of a few feminist-themed facebook groups. I just thought it was funny because without that knowledge, it's kind of like how or why would I know such people?

(I had to explain the joke and it's not funny anymore >_>)

As I've said before, my partner is ace and he has stripped once I believe. He just has strong no-touchy rules and is very amused how much money he gets in tips 'cuz he doesn't really understand what's so attractive about it.

Hail bishounen Jesus!

I'm a huge perv but I don't spend my time going to prostitutes who might have been convinced by their pimps to come here to work hard and then have to hand in all the pay to said pimps and not report it to the police because they don't speak English and don't want to get arrested and probably have kids to feed.

As long as this shit's too dark gray I'm not intending on making it worse, accidental or not.

I see that, but Yinello was talking about strippers, so I opted to join that conversation.

Hi Rothide. You haven't posted in a while. Welcome back!

I have never been to a real strip club. I don't know much about strip clubs. It's probably not my place to judge, shame, or approve of strip clubs, their patrons, or their employees.

I've been to a couple, when I was in my teens. They made me uncomfortable. It was in Canada, where one of the games is to pelt the stripper with dollar coins, which just made my skin crawl. There was nothing good about the experience.

Well, with our lack of $1 bills, and the difficulty of shoving handfuls of loonies into stripper's bras, we had to come up with something. Although the execution may have been a little poor.

On a side note, I have never been to a strip club, but my roommates (and bizarrely, at least to me, their girlfriends) keep saying we should go to a strip club. I personally don't see the attraction.

I haven't ever been but our porn shop* has a dark and kind of foreboding looking door in the back that I've adamantly avoided for some time now.

*the only porn shop in town. it's the next door neighbor to the only chocolate shop in town. your one stop shop, as it were.

I don't recall ever seeing a strip club before and I thought it was an imaginary place for the longest time... The first time I ever saw an adult video store was last year. I happened to notice one I drove past while visiting some family in new orleans.

My older sister was a stripper from about my mid high school to late 20's. I've probably met 30 or so of her co-workers over my life.

I would not say that the people drawn to the job are in general in a happy headspace about it, nor would I say that they'd in general be likely to continue doing so if a similarly paid job offered itself. Unfortunately there are not very many jobs that can let someone with nothing but a diploma, or even a dropout walk out of work with 500 to 1000 bucks depending.

It's a lot like the porn industry in that on paper it seems like it could be not that bad and a nice outlet for peoples sexuality. In reality the industry is pretty rife with addiction problems and abuse, sexual, physical, and emotional.

So, Portland is described as having more strip clubs per capita than any other city in the US. Apparently our state supreme court protected it as freedom of speech, so regulating strip clubs is illegal (though, obviously, not their business, food, and alcohol licenses). Live sex shows are also protected. We even have a vegan strip club (motto, "we put the meat on the pole, not on the plate" ... ew). It's hard not to notice. If you drive around at all you pass a ton of them with names like Pitiful Princess. Then there's Ron Jeremy's Club Sesso, which has live sex shows and apparently "gangbang night" on Fridays... the reviews of this place are pretty interesting.

Free speech, yo.

The strip club comics have made me curious why we never see women, specifically lesbians, patronizing the Sinfest strip club.

I go to strip clubs a few times a year, and there are always women taking advantage of the entertainment, getting lapdances, etc. Women are usually about 20% - 30% of the clientele, though I've had evenings where women (mostly lesbians, some of whom I was there with) made up 70% of the customers. Granted, I'm in Portland Oregon, but these are not gay/lesbian clubs. Any strip club will do.

I can understand painting straight women patrons as simply unenlightened slaves of the patriarchal mentality, but ...

Perhaps including lesbians as women-oglers would overly complicate the "men are pigs" narrative of Sinfest.
