I don't wear hats because my noodle basket is gargantuan. I have to buy fitted hats, which is annoying, and I refuse to spend money on spicing up my head when I could spend that money buying something comfortable, like smartwool socks or another hoodie...

I am partial to a good boater, myself. Matched with a white suit, or clashed with a black suit.

It's a nice, dandy, meet-your-sweetie's-mum-and-dad sort of hat.

I was given one of these once - http://www.villagehatshop.com/show_product/451139-3070-60598/
Very good quality. I highly recommend them.

It depends whether you care enough. Apparently hat sellers in the US call them both fedoras because it's a more familiar term, and many sellers in the UK call them both trilbys for the same reason. But technically a trilby has a narrower brim that tilts down in front and up in back. Indiana Jones wore a fedora.

But this will be like the "tomato is a fruit/berry" conversation, and in six months someone who reads this now will ask this question again, because it's not important.

And in interesting, or not, differences in regional cultures... I think most people where I live would agree that Indian Jones wears a Stetson, or perhaps Cowboy Hat. Which is kinda funny considering Stetson is actually a brand of hats and not a style. But most certainly, it'd be very rare to find anyone calling it a fedora.

I've always heard it referred to as 'An Indiana Jones Hat.'

The good licensees over at Indiana Jones Hats call it a fedora, as does the Indiana Jones wiki, and the people who made the hat for the Indiana Jones film.

Huh, that's interesting. Stetsons usually have a wider brim, but they're not fundamentally all that different. I just never would have thought they'd be considered the same. But, given Indy is American, I could see why people would call his hat a cowboy hat.

Generally, I prefer my top hats to be a bit taller than that. This is more my proportion.

Oh, also, in case you wanted a good derby.

*pats you on the shoulder* I know that feel. I entered some competitions to try to win one but, well, I didn't win. One day though, when I have money, one of those hats will be mine.
