Maybe we're supposed to pretend that, instead of just $s, the shades are slowing Slick actual values. Like, if that woman actually had a set price, whether she knew (let alone would ever AGREE) to it or not.
Then everything would be obtainable. Everything IS entirely objectified, but not as just a concept. As an actual number.
'Cause I think such a thing would actually be a little scary, especially as a worldview, constantly attaching a literal monetary value to everything and everyone. Particularly if Slick were to learn that the values were somehow true.

That is a solid interpretation, but I'd add that those prices don't necessarily need to be literal monetary costs. They may also be words and actions, making the glasses more of a PUA metaphor.

If that's the case, I'm kinda wondering how Slick will deal with that pressure, of being able to get what he's always wanted by being a manipulative sociopath.

IF we follow that argument, Monique subconsciously wants to hurt people.

I don't think it's quite that simple, though.

I think it's more Matrix-y stuff, and seeing the hidden messages we're always getting about price/value/etc.

If I were in Monique's position, of trying to create music and poetry that tried to change minds and worldviews for the better, only to be constantly assaulted by ignoramuses hurling insults and tomatoes, I'd probably want to hurt people, too. We're all human, we've all got lizard brains in our head affecting our desires (and actions, if uncontrolled).

But Monique's already been shown to be able to control those impulses, and tries to save the verbal abuse for those that actually deserve it. Remains to be seen if Slick can resist this other pressure.

Well he has been making progress by trying to avoid it so far. Monique to some extent works with Demonique, while Slick tries to avoid the things that Sleaze wants. They have different relationships with their demons...

But that doesn't change the fact that she would "Secretly want to hurt people" (And keep in mind, Demonique A) Was just hurting people *IN HELL*, not just folks that were throwing stuff at her, and B) Wanted to hurt someone who'd tossed flowers onto stage.) And then she did tell Demonique that it *was* time to start stabbing.

You've changed it from "Something they actually want to do" to some sort of.. 'other pressure'.

Again, I don't think Sleaze or Demonique are so simple as "What they actually *want* to do". I do think they're facets of their personality they wish they didn't have/are trying to suppress, but that's slightly more complicated than just "Subconsciously want to look at porn/hurt people"

Hold up...I thought Kcils was the result of Slick getting bomfed and Demonique being from a dream. I'm pretty sure they aren't the same.

Slick's demon can act as a separate entity from him as has at least been seen by Xanthe. We have seen him interact with others and he has been working contrary to how Slick is at least trying to become.

Demonique, as far as I can remember, is Nique's actual dark side. Outside of Nique, noone but possibly the Devil Girls seem to even be aware of her.

I'm sorry, but I've missed where those two became the same kind of beings.

Sleaze is Slick's reflection, and was a result of being bzomfed, which is apparently a separate deal from being bomfed but the differences are not really clarified. Demonique is Nique's shadow and is presumably a result of eating the fruit of knowledge.

Sleaze represents everything bad about Slick, but Demonique seems to be a representation of everything Nique hated about herself. The deal is Slick needs to avoid and resent everything Sleaze is if he wishes to become a better person, while Nique needs to find peace and balance with Demonique.

The two are similar, but not the same.

Thanks. for some reason, it looked to me like people were treating them as the same.

The jogger should have a price tag, in fact Sleaze would probably think of her tag as the only one that matters.

Like the one trailing behind her hair in both frames?

I misinterpreted that as marking her headband.

This is actually pretty awesome. Slick might now realize Sleaze's existence and how it affects him.
