Very Happy Some closure, wooh! I'm glad they're actually talking.

And Tat was considerate enough to show ( in the first panel) that the stool does not have the innovative and hilarious spiked hammer accu-puncture option. Very Happy

And am thrilled too to see them actually talking and Blue hasn't blaster ( figuratively and literally) Fyoosh in a first reaction! Am hoping that Fyoosh will help Blue see the other side of life too!!

Fanboy

P.S. Yesterday's subject "Thank you, I love you" somehow made me think for a second that Slick did something for Nique and she said it and then my reaction was "Oh my God!! Tat is closing Sinfest! That would be the only time she would say that!". I think I overthink Sinfest way beyond what I should!

Last panel = awwwww.

That went surprisingly well, this reunion. I expected Blue to be angrier. It's almost a bit odd how smooth this has gone.

Awww, I love this. Not just Blue and Fyoosh being friends, or Blue's description of Fyoosh, but also that Blue finds Abby charming in a "clueless dingbat" manner. She's being protective.

Oh, and I love Fyoosh's expression in the last panel.

But wait
if we're collectively recognising something so insipid as the number on the calendar happening to match the first three digits of the decimal expansion of the most well-known circle constant to mean that it's "pi day", does that mean that idiots (or ignorant physicists) advocating the use of tau = 2*pi as a replacement for our beloved circle constant are going to be cropping up again like they always do?

Arrgh.

"Happy Pi Day" my ass, this is a cause for despair!

...or are they not going to bother until 6-28?

Great, now I'm dreading June 28th. See what you've done, Hydro? DOST THOU NOT SEE WHAT WOE THOU HAST WROUGHT?!?

The date is 14/03/2014 (or 2014.03.14 if you prefer something alphabetically sortable) here and I don't know what any of you are on about.

the only way that makes sense in the context of everything else (such as our number system) is to list the larger units first, so 2014-03-14 is preferable in all cases. Although, I would like to see some consistency on this, even if the consensus turns out to be day-month-year like much of the world foolishly uses. The United States uses the even weirder month-day-year, partly as an artefact of English's defective grammar, I think, but mostly because they like to be wacky, and Canada makes it especially confusing by using all three endiannesses to express dates -- the only way to avoid ambiguity in North America is to go full big endian or write out the name of the month!

but clearly for a yearly event the year doesn't matter (except when it does for confounding political reasons, like with Easter), so this is modular arithmetic.

Today is 3-14, which if interpreted as a decimal number (an interpretation that makes absolutely no sense) is an approximation of the circle constant that is accurate to within one part in a thousand, which is accurate enough for anything that anyone would plausibly be calculating manually in this great age of ubiquitous computers. Unfortunately, and maybe even paradoxically, this is taken as an excuse to waste children's time in school by having them memorize arbitrarily long sequences of mostly meaningless digits. "Anything to get people interested in mathematics," they say, but I say that it's that sort of bullshit that tends to turn people off of maths. Even if you feed the kids pie afterwards.

as i recall, the next 2 digits are 15 (3.1415)- to i guess that means next year we have to have an extra big celebration on 3-14-15.

(HR's exploding head can stand in for the fireworks)

I think the fact that there is pie out there is reason enough to be happy.
