I see you trying to apply logic. It doesn't quite work the same here.

Microchips don't work that way? Maybe not the one in my computer, but the one in my phone sure does.
Technology is freaky. You can go online and watch Youtube videos of commertials for the Videosphere, or go look at how-to's for the 'spinning mirror' 3d thing. I'm still waiting for them to put usb ports in replacement hip joints. It seems like such a well-exlored surgery area.

I mean that if you destroy enough of the circuitry to erase all the memory except 1 last memory, how the hell do you manage to preserve that last memory? It's like dropping a nuke on Bikini Atoll and leaving one tree alive.

called it on that chip belonging to the assassin bot.

actual CPUs in the foreseeable future might have persistent caches

they're already considering persistent RAM, even to the point of merging RAM with mass storage

in which case, assuming the chip is intact, the data in the processor might very well be the robot's last thought, even if all the other components were lost

I think a persistent cache explains away this particular complaint quite nicely. Unfortunately, while realistic, it has the distinct disadvantage of contradicting absolutely everything else about the way this chip is portrayed.

NOPE

A PHONE PROCESSOR IS THE SAME THING AS A COMPUTER PROCESSOR

your phone is a computer

assuming it's high-end its processor probably uses the ARM architecture (just like one of my laptops!) and is optimised to run cool on a minimal amount of power, sacrificing speed

I have suspended my disbelief about the chip, because otherwise this is a very exciting strip where the last panel made me go "holy shit".

Mh...

It might not be that bad an idea to have her memory wipe away every so often, though.

After all, no better way to guarantee that she doesn't go rogue than resetting to factory settings now and then. And it's not like her mission required much memory. Seems fairly automatic.

However, we all know that it's not what happened, so yes. What Rants said. If you access the contents of the RAM at the time of death it will only show the 'programs' that were currently in execution, hence retrieving only the last thoughts makes an awful lot of sense.

Everything this chip has given us is the specs, the directive and a memory. It kind of works.

What doesn't really work is the chip actually answering a typed question, so that's where we must suspend the disbelief.

I don't know why people are applying real world logic/knowledge/rules to a microchip from an assassin robot designed to go after a fembot that overcame her programming. Do we even have anything comparable to that?
