Given Sinfests "pace" - if you can call it that - I think it's a bit soon to accuse Slick of turning into a sociopath. Just because we haven't seen a reaction YET, doesn't mean it'll never happen. For all we know, Slick will have a reaction as soon as next week.

Technically, it's a bit late to accuse Slick of turning in to a sociopath. Or at least, being far enough down that road to be worried by how closely he fits the description...

Just by examination of that strip, we can see that Slick isn't a sociopath. People bandy around the word sociopath a lot, but the layman's definition of a sociopath is oceans away from the real medical diagnosis of a sociopath. Just to keep it pithy, I'll say this.

A sociopath wouldn't have been worried about it like Slick, and wouldn't have immediately begun trying to fix the situation.

We don't know if Slick was affected or not by having a gun in his face or seeing someone dragged away, but we do know that there are many people in the world who see similar things and don't react strongly, yet are neither internalising the emotional impact nor are they sociopaths.

I know I'm a bit late and I'm guilty of not reading through apparently 12 pages of ad hominems and counter-offensive rants, but I was wondering - have we went into discussion about how nice it is to see that even though Squig puts up an act of being "macho", he actually displays his emotions legitimately?

Actually yes, I was thinking that. It's another point on the chart of "Squig is a way more likeable and empathetic character than Slick by this point". And it's nice that he trusts Slick to the point of being able to let his guard down, even though Slick hasn't been acting like the friend he once was for some time.

Reading strips in the Old Strip Thread where Slick is prepared to go to any length on Squig's behalf makes me really miss the old Slick. When was the last time we saw him do something that wasn't directly to his own benefit, again?

Unlike you apparently, I'm not willing to relinquish words to people like O'Reilly just because they use them.

Pithy existed before him, it will exist after him, and it's a pretty decent word.

I haven't spent enough time listening to Bill O'Reilly to associate much of anything with him

then people make Bill O'Reilly references, and I become confused, both about the reference itself and why they bother knowing enough about the guy to make the reference

A little knowledge helps to refute him. It's also nice to know what they're doing, Keeping an eye on them is good for your health. To be honest, a lot of what I know about him and Limbaugh and Hannity comes from Al Franken's books.

maybe if I argued with them professionally, or even as a hobby, but I'll let other people do that for me, thanks

I can do more good for the world with maths, and illustration is more enjoyable

And otherwise his two yes-women will next to him.

They're always blonde too. Creepy.
