So, this is an ongoing issue here. I'm just going to make this thread, and every time I come across a news story about irresponsible assholes being careless with the storage or care of their guns, mass shootings, or bullshit like the ex cop shooting a guy for texting. Im just going to try to track this for a year and see how many pages i can load up by the 17th of 2015. I'm simply going to google "shootings on (yesterday's date)" every day i can remember to and post what i find on the front page only.

Detroit 4 year old accidentally shoots cousin

Elementary school student discharges unattended police firearm. Luckily, nobody got hit by fire, but some students had cuts and scrapes (I presume from scrambling to get out of harm's way).

This is going to be a lot of getting flipped off by Fred Rodgers.

Um... is that to track shootings, or how much people here talk about shootings as well? Should we contribute items, discuss generally, or shut the frack up?

next time there's a mass shooting, we'll all have a big argument about gun control, and for every subsequent mass shooting, we'll just link back to the argument

Interesting. I suggest numbering links, since you'll be able to know just how many stories get posted without having to count through a thread that will be several pages long. So eureka's would be #5.

Also, are these stories just confined to America, or world-wide?

Also also, are active duty police and military exempt from being irresponsible assholes?

Ooh, yeah. I should have asked about all that before I posted. Sorry Monkey!

And condolences to Eureka as well. It hurts more when it's someone you know. That poor child...

Actually, Eurake's is technically #4, since the link Istancow posted was from 10/24/13.

Well, he wouldn't approve of anyone getting shot, especially children.

I went ahead and numbered mine. If you didn't get a chance to read the article, the little girl was hit by a stray bullet while she was eating breakfast in her home. It wasn't direct action against her, but it doesn't make the outcome any easier. Remember to tell your loved ones you love them because you never know.

No one is exempt from being an irresponsible douchebag...the numbering is a good idea and i'll do it from here forward.

I'd rather it wasn't things like "soldiers in a firefight" or "police in a hostage situation returning fire toward a criminal"

Accidental discharges....children of an age that they really shouldn't be able to put their hands on firearms, ex cops shooting people for texting, anything you think might be a crime of passion where having the firearm at hand may have made the situation more lethal than if it wasn't right there.

Accidental or intentional but reckless (ex: we thought these two asian women were one larger black man, so we shot at them) sounds perfectly reasonable.
