Oh fuck me he refers to drum and bass as the most sublime music in the world. Fuck this guy sideways with a shard of broken glass.

It took me until a few hours ago to realize it wasn't just a swirl of colors.

the most sublime music in the world is clearly my Gabber I Am Evil Homer / Merzbow mixover. you know the one where i'm just like screaming the pledge of allegiance over it while several people are crying

From this thread. Dennis slammed this dudebro named Flu after he tried a "your mom" insult.

I'm pretty sure it slayed him on the spot because he never posted again.

Actually the sublime bit was the second link. So am I really not making sense or are people just not reading critically..... it wasn't that hard.

Also congrats on dismissing an entire music genre.

I'll amswer your questions when I wake up.

You need to put some fucking quotes around "music" when referring to that shit.

individually given my predilection (whoa more of my 'undergrad' ten dolla words mCool towards experimental electronic music forms, if I want to experience some sublime musical experience, I put on some very good headphones and listen to this guy here

my brain starts pulling it apart and trying to track the music on all the effect levels like i'm exploding a project in Aftereffects and it's total ASMR man

i'm so glad i live in an era where people are really starting to put some extremely timeless mastery to electronic music forms where before the field was churning through its adolescent phases

oh, come on

I absolutely cannot stand most '60s rock, but am I going to accomplish anything by yelling at the fans? No.

this shit is entirely dependent on taste and context
a lot of DnB is pretty unlistenable to me in most situations, but some instrumental DnB works really well for me for when I need to get some work done, especially if it has a good drive to it

anything too artful is out unless I'm already intimately familiar with it because it'll distract me

also, I didn't like that cello song you linked to. I found it to be too grating. I remember enjoying something else that those guys had made, though. If you're going to rag so harshly on an entire genre at least post something more universal as a counterexample. You're never going to convince anyone that something they like is crap based on nothing more substantial than your own subjective and poorly-explained assertions, but if you're going to try you might as well put your best foot forward.

______________
Exercise:
Humanity makes contact with an alien species whose closest analogue to music is their dissonant shrieking mating calls. They have an intricate sense of hearing, but no heartbeat and no sense of rhythm.

Explain to them why Thunderstruck by 2CELLOS is better than Beautiful Lies by B-Complex.

Aw shoot is this thread turning into a music aesthetics thread?

Shoot, I'm outa here. I listen to 60s folk music -- I'm leaving before everyone bands together to kidnap me, tied up and gagged in a quiet warehouse with high-quality headphones duct-taped on.
