You're all missing the most important thing LIL'E IS HOLDING TANGE'S TAIL AGAIN IN THE LAST PANEL

No one has responded to my wondering if PX knows or fully comprehends the difference between biological beings and robots from yesterday. We don't even know what command she pressed, for all we know PX assumes that something like "program for subservience" will work on Milton. In any case, I don't feel particularly sorry for him, it's not as if he ever showed her any degree of compassion (no, "for the science!" doesn't count) even after viewing her memories and presumably being able to figure out she has more than an average amount of sentience.

Anyway, I sincerely doubt that Milton is going to be gruesomely killed by that drill, whatever the case. The worst thing that's probably going to happen from here is getting chewed out by Blue.

Well he does show compassion for things that are destroyed when they were just doing their job, he got mad at someone (cant remember who) for breaking the eye bots.

Again I'm pretty certain that Milton doesn't see her actions as "sentient" but rather "a bug in the code/weird programming the sisterhood gave here when she downloaded the memories of the other fem bots".

See to a scientist, true AI won't actually come about, someone said they passed the test in thinking they were talking to a human, scientists then consider the outcome and say "this still isn't true AI".

We don't even really know how our own brain works, we get the rudimentary stuff but the brain is still pretty much a secret, and in order to program a true "sentient" AI, you have to understand the human brain.

When we finally uncover the secret of the human brain, then a true sentient AI can be created... and also we get one free tech.

Okay but we're talking about Sinfest, not reality. Sinfest is the kind of place where even a normal laptop can become sort of alive if bomfed, if you were a scientist and didn't consider that the fembot acting like a person, was, well, functionally a legit and sentient person you'd be kind of stupid.

As for the eye bots, for one they serve a completely different purpose. Actually, now that I think about it, what if the spy bots are akin to military personnel since the fembots are like sex workers/escorts? Back on track, I think he was sad in a "oh no my inventions have been destroyed!" way which isn't really the same. He'd probably be kind of disappointed at that guy who disassembled his fembot too, but this isn't the level of compassion you would show another human/devil person that was killed though.

Rothide, the n00b tube works in a cheap shooter. It doesn't work when trying to make a point. You're not convincing if you have one possible salient point to every five to ten bogus points rooted in myopia and/or madness. Observe.

Bullshit. Wanting people to respect a machine isn't the definition of compassion. Even if you were convinced of this, you can't turn around and then insist on your one good point which I'll get to in a moment.

Also, Rothide? You shouldn't identify with Milton. He's not a good role model for (mental) children.

Actually, I agree. You have a point here. Milton is misguided, ignorant and potentially up his own ass. I don't think anyone here would call him intentionally malicious. But you know what? It also doesn't mean a damn in the real world. Nor is ignorance or good intentions/vision ever an excuse if you're still willfully complicit in evil.

However, I'd like to think that he doesn't have an excuse to be ignorant anymore. We'll have to see how it goes. But that aside, yes, you have a point here even if it contradicts your first (dumb) statement.

Rothide, please take your medication and come back when you're feeling a little more coherent . Or capable of getting the google machine to regale you with a bedtime story about Turing tests. You get a gold star if you can find some way to make what you've learned relate to whatever the fuck you were trying to say there.

Since it's unlikely the drones are going to believe they vaporized her & just mosey along, I'd say Escape From DevilTech isn't over yet.

Milton is alive, of course. And he's still clamped to the table. With Blue on her way there. Smile I wonder what the chances are of Tat deciding that Milton would look good with an eyepatch and one of the larger anime face-scars? It's an easy goto for Dramatic revenge motive.
Now how are Strike Team Devil Horns going to get out of there? Pick the lock? Bend the bars? Force the doors? Wild Halo1 jeep chase through the tunnels? Or everyone goes back to the Huntress room and changes outfits and escapes during the all-forces-get-him alarm?

Midnight- there's nothing wrong with Milton. Nothing aside from he's a nebbish and an office worker expy and also doesn't care how many robots he crosses off his serial number maifest.

Is the Huntress room like the Batcave? Very Happy

And, most critically, which Huntress: Wayne or Bertinelli?

Well the "whats" are kinda vague and your bedtime story thing makes me wonder if your going "what" as in "I believe the Turing test is not a good benchmark for an AI that can make a person believe they are talking to a person" or a What as in "the turing test is a good benchmark for AI's that can think like Humans".

Just to give my viewpoints....

Just going to throw it out there that when you start referring to people as mental children people generally take that as a sign that you have a weak argument and are attempting to prop it up with ad hominem attacks.

Not that I like Rothide, but I'll calls it as I sees it.

<Smug mode>

;-P

I'd be very, very surprised if Milton is dead or even injured. He might learn something from this experience, though, and reconsider disassembling or remote-destructing anyone else. Being a Fucking Creep, he probably won't, but this is the most likely experience to actually get through to him.

But mostly, Yay for the Rescue! And yes, aww for the way Li'l E hangs on to Tange's tail.

And that last panel - does that mean that all the drones have been launched? That's going to be some heavy surveillance operation...

Odd question -- why do Tange and Lily want to rescue a murderous vengeful fembot? I mean, the main reason (as far as I can tell) they went after her to begin with is because she ran off a weapon and intended to use it. I mean I guess Tange must've up and decided that Px was suddenly a friend to risk life and limb for. Still I can't confess to being comfortable with the two "kids" of the comic being in close proximity to someone who just was about to make meat puree in cold blood.

EDIT: No, I sincerely doubt Milton is dead. I do not doubt, however, that his pants must currently be housing the contents of his bowels.

Tange always came over as someone who decides on something and goes for it no matter what. She decided Px was her friend, now she will save said friend forever and always, no matter what misguided things they may do. It is refreshing to have that kind of loyalty but at the same time I hope Tange will actually say something about Px's anger.

I also highly doubt Milton is dead.

Turing Test success marks milestone in computing history

June 9, 2014 University of Reading

Quote:
An historic milestone in artificial intelligence set by Alan Turing -- the father of modern computer science -- has been achieved. The 65 year-old iconic Turing Test was passed for the very first time by supercomputer Eugene Goostman during Turing Test 2014 held at the Royal Society in London on June 7, 2014. 'Eugene', a computer program that simulates a 13-year-old boy, managed to convince 33% of the human judges that it was human.

yes

hello

that Turing Test thing is total bullshit
we talked about it in the other thread

brb
setting up a Turing Test where examiners have to determine between a program designed to imitate an illiterate man and an actual illiterate man via text correspondence
