You are right, of course, wobster. There is no "happy fembot" or "happy waitress" state because there is no real happiness in blatant exploitation. Only the imitation of happiness one is trained or programmed to perform in hopes of not being punished -- as much. As Monday's strip says, she can't go back, knowing the past. There is only forward. There is always only forward.

Well, there *is* always the Lethe, and bottled Lethe-water does seem to erase memories more selectively than just falling in. People using the bottles only ever seem to forget guilt or unpleasant revelations rather than who they are, or how to do math above a 3rd grade level.

At Blue's current level of access she could destroy Devilcorp's assets from within while tucking away enough revenue to start-up her own evil corporation. Then she could run it competently, and make robots that resemble people of multiple body-types, genders, and ethnicities. With his assets cleaned-out or destroyed the Devil won't be able to use them to prevent her corporation's rise to power. Then later she can just buy-out Devilcorp as a subsidiary.

Sledgehammer through that glass-ceiling, Blue. You can do it.

I continue to think that Fuchsia's painting is very condescending toward Blue. Blue was much happier as a Booth Babe and Hell Stabber than she was as a waitress.

but it was when she was a waitress that fuchsia first met her. when they were first friends, and blue first gave her support. before either of them became devil-girls, with all that entailed.

it's fuchsia's painting, it may be more about her feelings than blue's (even though blue is the subject of the painting). since fuchsia has rejected being a devil-girl, she may prefer to think of her friend before she was lost to being a devil.

This reminds me of the line from Scrooge the Musical.

"You were happier when you were poor, and content to be so."

I suspect that Blue was unhappy even when Fuschia was there with her. But even if she had been the happiest person in the world - she's got a ton more responsibility these days, the boss is not happy, war threatens her way of life, and she's lost her best friend/support. No matter what she feels about her workplace, she's got every reason to look wistfully out the window and think, "I wish things could just go back to the way they were."
