*sigh* it's just....i need the contact. i mean, when jinx was overseas, we heard from him every day, he needed us, and now he's home and he's not even talking to us anymore. i feel unloved.

ashcraft, however, has hedgehogs, so he may already not need us.

although he _could_ keep us up to date on how _they_ are doing.....

What?

Right. And what's up with that Martin Luther King guy? If I was a black guy in 1960s America I'd be less worried about my civil rights and more concerned with being a good little negro and not getting my black ass sent back to Africa.

Nevermind....

When I first started this thread I was fuming at what I saw as blatant shit stiring on the part of the drivers. Religious freedom is all well and good but common sense is preferable. Somalia is going through hard times at the moment what with the war lords imposing sharia law and the general lack of law and order. The AU is impotent to help the locals and the UN is banned from entering. I find it interesting that muslim Somalis have chosen this time to assert their right to religious freedom in this context.

It's a sad day when I feel suspicious of the motivations of these drivers, perhaps the climate of fear is getting to me. I am all for racial tolerance and religious freedom, we are closer than ever to major change and all men will have to work together anyway. Red, white, black and yellow together in harmony with a common religion.

Whether we like it or not the world is being hijacked towards a confrontation and we are along for the ride. Here's another example of a world gone mad. The UN in its wisdom is going to put a S Korean in charge. We all know Kim il Sung is a raving ego manic with a persecution complex, how is he going to handle this massive loss of face? A nuclear test? Sorry that is the fault of the US hostilities.....bollocks. We are currently on a path of destruction. How do we cope with it?

I am sorry if anyone thinks I am a rascist for some of my remarks or tone of my posts but I can tell you I am not. I have spent time in Morrocco and lived with traditional owners of Kakadu, I love Mankind but have alot of trouble with men and their works.

The rest of your post entirely aside:

1. Kim Il Sung is dead.
2. The Koreans have nothing to do with any presumed upcoming conflict with Muslim-ness.

There's a point in this, so just stick with me.

I'm an Atheist.

There are people walking around with Bibles in their hands, people preaching on street corners, and holding up signs that advertise their empty-headed banter for all to see. In fact, right on the currency I deal with every single day is the creed that we in America trust in God, an entity that I don't just view as non-existent, but absolutely ridiculous.

But you know what? I don't care!

It doesn't matter to me. Sure, I have morals and beliefs. I morally oppose prostitution and, frankly, abortion doesn't make me all tingly down South either. But it's not my world. People can do whatever they want, so long as they leave me out of it, and they never haven't. There's no crucifix on my wall, no Bible verses in my head, and my hard-drive is still rank with pornography.

But I guess I'm not a radical who believes that my faith is as absolute as it is legally enforcible.

You know, I've never seen a bunch of Jews standing outside McDonalds with picket signs, protesting McGriddles because they have bacon in them. But I have a seen Jews in McDonalds before. But I digress.

The point is, why does it matter so much what someone else is doing with their body or even their immortal soul? Are you really being damned by proxy? If so, get a new job. People don't have to adapt to you, you have to adapt to people. Simple as.

I do. Buddhists do. Jews do. In fact, the only religion I know of that ever violently protests that everyone else does not absolutely respect their witless ramblings is Islam. I've known a good number of Muslims in my time who never gave a dirty damn about what everyone else around them was doing, so what's up with these fanatics? They're all reading the same book, why are they getting different messages?

Sigh... what a world.

Doesn't quite mesh with this:

And this ...

probably means you don't live in Amurrica. Oops, you do!

Yes, quite the world indeed. So, what's your problem with prostitution anyway? Sex is a commodity, why not allow people sell it as one?

A moral is a personal idea. I don't want my morals to spread and ooze like lava into other people's lives. If other people want to visit hookers and get abortions, that's fine. It's just not something I'd do or advocate doing. [Edited in] I oppose prostitution because I'm a hopelessly stupid romantic who believes in personal love and not lust. It's not my body, nor my choice what to do with it, and I don't agree that it should be illegal. I want less government and more freedom to do whatever stupid things people want to do. I don't care. But, just as people can choose to go to a prostitute, I want to be able to choose not to.

It's hard to describe my take on abortion... suffice it to say I agree that it should allowed. I know there are other HUGE arguments for it, such and rape and whatnot, and I think that's good. But, if you sit me down, I just don't like the idea. Sorry, it's irrational and stupid, but that's just the way it is. I don't side with the Christian morality of unborn babies and I do not think AT ALL that it should be the right of the government to tell women what to do with themselves, no matter how disgusting I may find it. It's just how I view it. My benign opinion of it.

And I never said Christians don't get uppidy about their faith, but I've never seen a group of rilled up Christians behead someone in the street. People with signs, demanding to be heard is fine by me. People making points with blantant acts of violence is not.

ok, we'll avoid going into the problems with issues like "reading the same book" and the idea that because one muslim doesn't follow the rules everyone shouldn't.

my point throughout this whole thread is that it's entirely up to the taxi driver, no matter what their race or religion, what they allow in their own private personal non-public property. it's not a protest. it's not a riot. it's no different than a "no shoes in the house" rule. it's not infringing upon anyone's right to wear shoes, and it's not pushing values upon anyone. it's a personal rule in effect only in their own personal property.
