Man, Scanner Darkly is one of my favorite PKD books. So I'm pretty fucking excited, yeah. I have my doubts about the "painted" animation of the film, but the more previews I see the better I feel about it. I just hope this adaptation stays true to the book. And I recommend you guys read the book, by the way. ALL of his books, in fact.

i saw Pirates 2 Saturday. it was good, not as good as the first, but still good.

it was a touch long though, abotu 2 and a half hours, roughly.

still, i don't feel as if i wasted my money seeing it, so it's win. that's basically how i rate movies these days. "do i feel cheated payign to see it or not?"

I've never read the books.

But the movie looks fresh. It looks like something I have seen already. That's something Hollywood desparately needs.

So I'm all for it.

I've been meaning to read more PKD but I refuse to read A Scanner Darkly before I see the movie. None of that because they always fuck it up.

I have seen another movie that used this style of film making. It was really... interesting. It was an existentialist movie called Waking Life (at least, that is how I understood it). A very interesting movie about dreams and life (obviously). The style very much lent itself to the dreaming quality. I really liked the style after a while though it does take some getting used to.

Here's to hoping it is an amazing movie. (I heart Pirates II by the way.)

Wait, isn't it supposed to be the other way around? That is, you experience the original medium before the adaptation. So one should read the book BEFORE the movie version, right? And it makes sense. I don't want my mental images of characters and scenes ruined by the images of the film. How I imagine a particular character to be, based on the text, is something unique and special. When you watch a movie a new depiction is forced upon you. And for some reason I can never seem to get it out of my head. One of the reasons why I try not to watch the movie A Clockwork Orange, no matter how amazing it may be. The book is on my top ten list and it has already been tainted by simply seeing the movie poster. Now whenever I think of the book, I can only imagine Alex as the actor on the poster, not what was originally in my mind. Power of sight, eh?

I will probably not see it. I don't go to many movies, on account of the HIGHWAY ROBBERY which is perpetrated against me every time I try to enter a theater.
