Tom Lehrer makes me all kinds of happy My mom introduced me to it when I was young (all except for the Vatican Rag which she made me wait until I left catholic school to listen to). People still give me odd looks when it pops up on my ipod at work. _________________ Morality: That instinctive sense of right and wrong that tells some people how everyone else should live their lives. |

Haha, fantastic. My first exposure was in my 3rd year of highschool (yr 9), in which my chemistry teacher played the wonderful Elements Song . I told my mum about it and she told me she had two old tapes of his show that she'd recorded off something, and for ages I'd listened to them over and over again, up until I found a great compilation of two of his shows on the iTunes website. And sure enough, he's wont to show up on my iPod quite regularly!
I must say my favourite bit that he did has to be his impersonation of "modern cooool schoool composers" doing a rendition of "Clementine" - just hillarious. And even funnier when I Googled the lyrics - I found a page with nice little annotations describing how he moved through the lyrics with each style.
In a word, brilliant! |

My mom had the vinyl records of him growing up and then in high school I got around to buying the CDs for myself.
Being in the military, so the military ones (So Long Mom, Send The Marines, and It Makes A Fellow Proud To Be A Soldier) make me laugh. Apparently he started performing while he was in the military and was actually making more money on the weekends than the military was paying him.
Be Prepared, Pollution, and Smut also make me laugh very hard. _________________ Morality: That instinctive sense of right and wrong that tells some people how everyone else should live their lives. |
