This is all mostly exploitational experimentation with color saturation techniques designed to make the pictures look good inside black compositional framing. Also, my required frenzy of pictures of the Colorado aspens turning. I've been working on them all week.
Thus the black borders -- these are smaller versions of the prints that go out.

I really love the third from the last. But then I'm a sucker for those desert vistas. _________________ "Whatever afflicts thee, their asses I shall kick"

Mm, yeah to be serious now, I like the playing with hue in the 5th and 6th pics. Very funky.

it's october here too, and I think the day for peak autumn colors was probably yesterday - today the wind is blowing fiercely and the leaves are being blown off.
Sam, you have a wonderful eye for picture composition. All of those -every one - is fantastic. Bravo!
Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing a series of those where you played with the colors ala Andy Warhol. _________________ Wow. Tatsuya is god. Or the dragon... |

| I don't want to be a wet blanket, but I felt a stronger impact from the original tree-lined photo. Maybe the manipulation (if any) abstracted it too much, or maybe it is just seeing it again. |

i'm interested in the perspective you chose on the first four - down below the trees, looking up. for some reason, that feels more melancholy to me...but i don't know why. _________________ aka: neverscared! |

| The melancholy comes in because there is the denuded tree in the midst of the all the colorful ones. So you start thinking about your own life, and how pretty much each regret, each lost opportunity is like a leaf leaving the branch. Can you get it back and return to color? No. Time for winter. |

| sam, you should totally send me prints to put up in my apartment so when people are like "wow those are so cool where did you get them" i can say my friend on the internets who stood me up at the airport made them with his camera and they'll be all "oh shit" and stuff. |
