- At my grandmother's house one final time to pack up the last of her possessions and give the place a thorough cleaning before it goes on the market this weekend.
-No internet access inside, have to sit outside where it is freezing to get online.
+Found a free wifi connenction on the boardwalk.
+Writing emails, browsing the forum sitting on the edge of the boards looking out over the ocean. (okay the sun went down now it's really fucking cold)
-I'm never going to be back here again (at least not in the same way) _________________ Formerly Green_Finn

Build my new rig for under 330 euros. Everything went well, for a first timer I have had Ikea furniture I had more problems with...
But i bent a pin on the cheapest part, the dvd writer. Now I have to wait a day to install windows! Grr _________________ When life gives you lemons, some people make lemonade. I just eat them and make a sour face. |

+Apparently, because my company is laying off so many people, they're running into The WARN Act, requiring that employees get 60-days notice.
+Haven't gotten a letter yet
-There's a very good chance I will, eventually (small chance I may get transferred to a different company or business unit, tiny chance I'll be kept on in some capacity)
--Apparently a large number of people will be getting their letters tomorrow. I don't know if anyone from my group is included, but the group we feed into probably is. Bad odds.
I really don't want to go to work tomorrow...

Went to the optometrist yesterday.
+ Yay new contacts! I missed you contacts!
+ They are super comfy.
- Um, well, apparently I need reading glasses.
- Seriously.
? I need the lowest of low strengths of reading glasses. +1.00
- Which is super heard to find.
- Not only is my up close sight starting to go, there is some thing I have that means I focus slower than is normal. No big deal but something to be aware of.
+ I can get cute ones.
+ Chris had some eye exercise program he wants me to use to try and strengthen my eyes. Eh, can't hurt. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

Really? I thought those kinds of glasses can be found all over the place. Like in bargain-bins and shit.
Though if you got more going on that just needing reading glasses you might want to get them made for you. Not having good ones can be bad for you. _________________

+1.25 is the most common that I have found. Eventually I'll need actual bifocals. Which irritates me. But anyway, what bad could happen if I am buying exactly what the optometrist told me to get? _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

I went to the dentist (really that alone belongs in the horror thread!); it has been a few years.
+ Dentist and his staff are lovely, nice people who actually listen and chose to believe you when you tell them stuff.
- 4 cavities and need a crown
+ They're going to try to see if one of the two local oral surgeons will knock me out for it (novacaine doesn't work on me well, or at all)
- That'll cost 1-2k
+maybe our insurance will cover some of it
- maybe they won't
- I am always scared to get knocked out
+ I am MUCH more scared of the drill (actually, I am quite terrified of dentists and all their implements, sounds, and smells)
I just want to get it over with. _________________ "Her kisses left something to be desired -- the rest of her. " |

Will you have to take your contacts out to read with the reading glasses?
This is one reason I have never gotten contacts, I can't read with my glasses on or it causes me a headache (I'm near-sighted). My new glasses should come in a week or two and they are tri-focals. They'll have one zone for seeing just seeing distance, another unmodified for reading, and then a bigger one for computer/TV viewing. (Computers fatigue my eyes.)
I am hoping my next checkup I won't need a new prescription and then can hopefully try out some contacts and have the insurance pay for them. But I have no idea how I would handle reading with them. _________________ "Her kisses left something to be desired -- the rest of her. " |

I can read with the contact in with the reading glasses. Also, my glasses often give me a serious headache due to smooshing of my head at a pressure point. I'll have to take whatever reading glasses I get and get them super loose. Like I said, it is a super low near sight change (in fact the doctor said that I could not bother with reading glasses as long as I am not doing extensive reading or computering ... yeah, that happens a lot). It doesn't help that apparently my eyes are dry. He prescribed drops too. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

Well I've read about cheaper readinglasses not being quite the focus claimed all the time. Discrepancies between the two lenses and a bigger or smaller actual calibration and stuff like that. And it is worse for your eyes the more you need adjusting. (If you need 1+ a slight difference is less bad than if you need higher.)
But I'm not really an expert. I've never needed glasses so my knowledge is based on what I've heard from others on it. _________________

I desperately need to get myself an appointment to see a dentists. It has been many years for me at this point and while I try to always take good care if my teeth and they were always in good condition when I was growing up, I'm sure something has gone wrong my now. I have not had 'dental' coverage as part of any of my healthcare packages for nearly 10 years now and until it was gone I hadn't realized just how expensive these things can quickly become. Still, I suppose the longer I put it off the greater the risk of needing an expensive procedure becomes.[/quote] _________________ Formerly Green_Finn
