And did you know testament has the same root as testify, which originates with Hebrew men placing their hand over their groin and swearing on their testicles? Basically betting the family jewels that they were telling the truth...

it was more like they were swearing on their family and descendents, not their actual balls, per se.

that's all very well and good, but I don't think "seat of power" fully explains the importance family had back then. the old testiment is basically one long family tree, some books dedicated entirely to lineages. it's not just virility, as in power or strength as a man, that is important. in that case they may as well have sworn on their biceps. the jews especially took extreme measures to ensure their lineage, obviously so in light of them being a chosen people and so on, and I can think of no better way to make an oath than on the objects responsible.

Today's strip is completely fucking awesome.
That is all.

Quoted for truth. I especially like the serenity of the first few panels.

Alas, these past Sunday comics have made me like the Devil less.

yep, definitely good. Makes me remember why I like jesus: his stuff is practical. Love and healing v elightenment and third eye? No contest.

These Sunday strips are awesome-I loved the opening panel where jesus comes from the desert and Buddha from the forest.

"Faith off!" is now one of my catchphrases, ha.

Yes... Practical... Who wouldn't want temporary health over cosmic one-ness?

Must... Avoid... Enlightenment!!!

Lol that particular comic is never gonna get tired for me. Just say no to knowledge indeed.

And Mellow, I expected more from you! No churchbot-thread-like outrage? Bummer man, you're not living up to your reputation here.

ho-ly shit. i cannot even begin to... i mean...

anyways. i'll try to avoid making this too long. ignoring the religions that have grown up around them (one in particular), buddha and jesus would find no reason to fight ever (each other in particular). period. what reason would their be? their individual ethical ideals are so goddamn similar there would be no reason. simply because one springs from a monotheistic, tradtionally occidental mythos, while the other is (obviously) oriental in nature is no reason to set the two as cosmic opponents or antitheses. the two differences you will find are a) enlightenment versus, um, going to heaven, and b) the names of their "attacks". anyways, i found it troubling in more ways than one.
