Another adaptation of Frank Miller's art is coming out in March.

Over acting? Yes. Crazy costumes? Hell yes. Special effects? ZOMG PRETTY!!!

Yeah I'm definitely going to see it too. Hollywood always makes historical snafus when making these movies, so why not just go all out and not even pretend to be a period piece?

They're feeling a little fishy?

And the trailer looks like a fun mindless movie.

i've been showing this to other students for the last month or so, ever since i saw fearless.

I actaully keep the 920 HD trailer of it on my flashdrive for this very purpose.

I know, my life is sad....

It looks like good entertainment
though i wonder how frank miller's 'adaptation' compares to that of "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfeild that i read as a young teen.

I just hope they don't take too many artistic liberties. I don't mind it being a little weird and out there, just not something like Reign: The Conqueror.

*shudder*

From what I've seen in the trailer it's almost exactly that, without the anorexia and Aristotle robots.

Well, you do have to remember that this isn't based on the actual battle of Thermopylae, it is based on Frank Miller's interpretation of it. The historical inaccuracies (cultural and battle specifics) were put in there by Miller.

This with Frank Miller goes more into it and it does say that the costumes aren't period. ::Grins::

Interview is on mtv.com so it may take some time to load. Sorry.

It's exactly that kind of Reign influence that has me a bit worried...

However, I think it will be okay. Miller is all about the gruff and brutal which is very much in line with the Spartans. The costumes not being historically accurate is fine in my opinion. I just don't want the combat to be somekind of DBZ freak show like what Reign devolved into. I mean from what I could stand to watch of the shows I say Alexander using massive fireballs and other such nonsense.

Does his interpretation leave out the 700 non-Spartans who also stayed to sacrifice themselves?
