Interesting... Nique, the great tempter, is suddenly innocent and the favorable alternative to the Devil. There are all sorts of subtler ironies, too.
I like the consistence of hearts in this comic.
As seems to be usual in these Sunday comics, there's a simple interference that breaks down a greater complexity. _________________

i think it's more that she is spreading simple love and joy - that's what the devil finds so icky. _________________ aka: neverscared! |

I would think it applies to a special kinda love that the Devil's instant gratification for the self can't fulfill. Just what kind of love that is debatable though. I'm guessing it's the need for a really awesome innocent girlfriend.
totally.
But asides that, this week's Sunday comic made me smile. : ) _________________ I was much happier when I thought Christianity meant simply being nice.

I don't know. I wanted to say that. I almost said that. But I actually looked through the recent Sundays... and there's really been an abundant crop of awesome lately. _________________ "To love deeply in one direction makes us more loving in all others."

Bringin' love to life!
Luv the dramatic camera angles in panels 6 & 7, when Monique arrives to the scene. And the faces of thousand words! Brilliantly expressed!
I... I think I just fell in love...

I kind of feel sad for the devil. There's a lot about life that he doesn't get. He understands fun, but not joy. He understands lust, but not love. It's also intriguing that the people early in the strip could have had a profound effect on Monique's outlook. If that guy hadn't given her flowers, if Pooch had barked at her (which he'd never do, of course), if the grocer had been yelling at a kid for trying to take an apple... the confluence of perfect happiness might not have been achieved. It has something to say about just being nice to other people and what kind of a ripple effect it might have. _________________ A person's character is their destiny. |

I feel sad for the Devil to. He's had a veritable avalanche of failures in these last few weeks. Poor guy. He had Seymour, Squig and Slick all hook line and sinker and then 'Nique shows up and spirits them away.

Im wondering that to. Is this the new tender 'Nique? Or is this comic more removed from the daily strips, so the characters are exempt from the roles they normally have allowing T to use them to get a point across? _________________ Lone Wolf don't roll with the Clan |

| I guess I had a really different interpretation of this comic. I thought those three guys were just chasing pussy. Temptress trumps tempter. |

Really, panel 5 just made my week. I'm also floored by way Tat manages to pull off such awesome storytelling without one shred of dialogue.
I didn't really see temptress trumping tempter in this comic, more of basic goodness triumphing over basic evil. |

I like the way Slick looked like his usual cool, impervious to the Devil's promises (or maybe jaded), but when Mo' pass by, he is the first to follow.
