I was out with my friends last night at a haunted house, and we were all talking about the movies that scared us when we were kids (and probably shouldn't have been watching the movies anyway).

They may or may not scare us now, but when we were kids, they scared the bejeebus out of us. The movie that freaked me out as a kid was "Children Of The Corn". I was like 7 and my uncle thought it would be a bright idea to show me that movie. I used to have nightmares about it. Haha.

What movies freaked you out as a kid? It is Halloween after all, I figured we could talk more then just about costumes. Or if you weren't scared of any movie as a kid, give your top 3 horror flicks.

Arachnophobia.

I think this inspired the scariest dream I had as a child that I still remember: being chased by a giant spider

I love scary movies! What Lies Beneath was fun and jumpy but not scary. Saw may be one of my new favorites. Children of the Corn was fun!

Te movie I had nightmares about was the Fox and the Hound. It is the only nightmare from my childhood I still remember (I rarely retain my dreams).

Amusing note: My mom had nightmares about Jurassic Park. ::snickers::

I know what Sam is going to say.

Hmm.. movies that scared me as a child. I wasn't really allowed to watch a lot of scary movies. And I wasn't fascinated with them directly. I remember creeping downstairs to watch my dad watching Alien on tv during the fateful alien-poking-out-of-the-gut scene. I went, "oo.. that's gross." But it didn't scare me. I think one of the first movies I saw that gave me nightmares was House. Yeah, yeah. Yuk it up, funny guy. Also, I saw a movie poster that struck a particular note with me. Ghoulies. Ever seen the movie poster/video cover of that one? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089200/ Now you have. See the tagline? "They'll get you in the end." Groaningly bad pun. But it became essential for me to check the toilet (and go as fast as possible) from the time I was 8 or 9 years old until I was well into college.

Yikes. If I had seen that I probably would have had that same complex. I'm not a fan of scary movies (my brother absolutely adores them).

I like your sig, btw.

I was 6 and it was my first time staying at a friends house overnight. We watched Lil' Monsters. I jumped into bed for quite a few years after that night.

I was just on break at work and talking to the warehouse guy. He brought up something I forgot. My little cousin Christine, after seeing the movie Jaws, refused to go in any lake, pool, body of water for a year until she got over her fear from that movie. Haha.
