Re: Clarification of view on gender

"Gender identity matching biological sex" is an idea that won't make sense to a lot of people here. Gender identity is not considered real and even if it was, what would it mean to "match" one's sex? I think some people who imagine a world without gender (like Judith Lorber's essay "Imagining a Worl...

Re: Video games

Totally. I'm a fan of lots of the games in the article but it's depressing the lack of self-consciousness in such an industry. These progressive game sites have an endless tap of feminist posturing and all-woman podcasts but rarely feature women speaking out against gender socialization or material ...

Re: Clarification of view on gender

I think some people here think they know what is going on when others talk about "my gender identity" and some people here think they can't know what each individual actually is referring to or doing. A personality that doesn't conform gender roles or conforms strongly to the gender role meant to th...

Re: Clarification of view on gender

When people here use "man" and "women" they mean biological male and female people. I imagine because some intersex people are surgically "corrected" early in life they are then socialized male or female, and some have complex upbringing. Intersex/hermaphrodite people are such a small percentage of ...

Re: Seymour and the Sisterhood

Marital rape was legal in the United States up until 1993, when Oklahoma and North Carolina withdrew their exceptions in law. A man would just have to marry a woman, and be prepared to defend his law-given rights in the unlikely event of legal action, and her body was his, until the 90s. The questio...

Re: July 13, 2019: Threats 29

That the term gets by any play from leftists is mind-blowing! Imagine if a leftist politican started sharing a survey of "Amazon workers" including executives, managers and Wall Street. Or started tut-tutting Amazon critics to "listen to Amazon workers" with testimonials from those Bezos reps who tw...

Re: Not angry, just disappointed.

Interestingly I didn't say anything about looking to romantic relationships as the reason to be disappointed in men. We can look at men harassing women on the streets. We can look at how every popular religion in the world treats women-- only recently have certain non-orthodox traditions begun to tr...

Re: Not angry, just disappointed.

I think it's possible to be disappointed in or even hate men as a class and treat individual people in a case by case way. But that's not to say there are exceptions to male privilege: every boy is raised to have goals for their own self worth that require objectifying women, and every woman is rais...

Re: Not angry, just disappointed.

It should be noted that we can consider gender identity discourse a hard-line rule-consequentialist moral philosophy recently wedged into the malestream liberal English-speaking world. The consequences of even implying that the words "woman" and "man" were ever meant to label the categories of mamma...

Re: Not angry, just disappointed.

Humans are mammals, all mammals have female and male bodies along with the less often occurance of intersex bodies. Intersex people are actually erased by denials of mammallian sex dimorphism! If whether someome is "male" and "female" cannot be observed by medical professionals, intersex advocacy or...

Re: Not angry, just disappointed.

I am grateful when people try to describe each others' viewpoints instead of just talking past each other. Ostensibly you both are trying to do that? I mentioned the End of Gender video because it clarifies and helps do that. I'll link it directly: https://vimeo.com/298352100 To speak for myself and...

Re: Not angry, just disappointed.

Did I get this right?
I'm not sure how someone could get this impression. Rachel Ivey in "The End of Gender: Revolution, Not Reform" on Vimeo nicely lays out the main critiques you'll see here; if that still makes it confusing I can find some more existing media if you want!

Video games

Polygon recently selected 21 games as the "Best Nintendo Switch Games." All the games on the list were created by men. (Polygon frequently covers gender politics in gaming, including a glowing review Hbomberguy's Mermaids fundraiser livestream  ) What video games do you all play? Any made by w...

Re: June 28, 2019: Threats 16

I don't see how the fact that you can pay to use someone's body gets any better without gender roles... Recently the leftist magazine Current Affairs published an essay about how the author and other leftists find *restaurants* personally uncomfortable, because you're using a servant who you don't k...
