The government is continuing to mostly ignore the issue. They did arrest one of the owners of one of the biggest sites when her passport expired and she returned to South Korea, but the other owners have foreign passports and so it's like, no big deal. A woman started a reversal website in protest, ...

I am YEARS behind Lackadaisy Cats. Some day I'll get back to it...

Keeping up with Subnormality isn't so hard. It might take twenty minutes, but it's only twice a year or so.

Does advertising work? (If not, why do companies spend so much on it?)

Does the fact that some advertising uses special effects, animations, even cartoons mean that that advertising is ineffective? (If so, why do companies do it?)

Why does he want to advertise misogyny to himself?

Yes, there are differences of scale and there are mitigating factors, but at the heart of it, it's still rape by coercion.

I feel for you, being who you are where you are, but the power differential that makes that safer for johns makes it very dangerous for the (male) prostituted.

August 10, 2018: Demand 11

http://www.sinfest.net/btphp/comics/2018-08-10.gif Mission Accomplished! Seriously, he's speaking up and trying to help. That's nice. Relatedly, I think it's interesting that between him and Slick, Squigley is the one getting something of a rehabilitation. Is it because Slick was the better charact...

But I have to wonder... on this forum, why is one of the first topics that was created people demanding to know whether trans women are welcome? Why was it one of the very first. Why did it blow up. Why is it still the one showing up when I click on the new message link? Why has this topic blown up...

Saying (or doing) nothing is siding with existing power structures. There's no such thing as not taking sides.

I can see why you'd feel that way, especially if you've come to the comic recently (but started at the beginning) and had the change go really quick. The comic's been around for the better part of two decades; the author's almost twenty years more experienced than when he started. There've been some...

Personally, I'm still trying to overcome the conservative, patriarchal, racist, authoritarian programming of my youth. Recovering from this sort of thing is like recovering from alcoholism, I think. Once it's in you, it's part of you forever, but with time and consciousness it becomes a lot easier ...

Slightly unrelated since it's been going on a while, but I like that the devil doesn't look so cute any more. I mean, he used to be SO CUTE -- I made user icons out of him elsewhere -- but he looks more... evil now. He's a devil I can really hate, as befits him being shown doing less cartoonish stuff.

Yeah, Oglaf is nsfw and full of t&a, but it's pretty much too silly to be offensive, and it's frequently hilarious. The best webcomic, imo, is Subnormality. It's not a daily panel strip but has progressed to more like bi-yearly graphic short stories. Moving. Edit: Oh yeah. And it's not a webcomic, b...

I would agree that the constitution's wording would be better changed to "an individual's familial contribution as a householder is as valuable as that of one who works" It is probably an improvement, but making it gender- or sex-neutral hides the social and financial pressures that women face to k...
