Re: Another Study about Mask Effectiveness
A friend recommended this great youtube video, too. https://youtu.be/5r0AA41dgLU Thanks for that link. My first time watching Dr. John Campbell. He is a great presenter of information - and he has his two textbooks - Cambell's Physiology Notes and Cambell's Pathophysiology Notes available for downl...

Re: December 9, 2021: Release 4
Yes and no to both the above, I think. Have you encountered the Duhem-Quine thesis? It's basically the idea that none of our beliefs can be assessed in isolation, you always have to look at the whole belief system (or at least a big chunk of it). Some beliefs - like "I am typing English" ...

Re: December 9, 2021: Release 4
Just a suggestion to all the rad fems out there, if you want transgender people out of your spaces maybe working with us to get Trans safe spaces and bathrooms would be more productive. What organization is working on creating the separate trans spaces? I am totally on board with that. I am a big s...

Re: December 9, 2021: Release 4
What I am saying is that Sinfest reflects only the parts of our world that Tat wants to reflect. If we are carrying out a true 'anti-vax' fantasy world then it really helps that there are no Covid illnesses or deaths. That is the one thing I find impossible to understand when I talk to the 'Covid is...

Re: December 9, 2021: Release 4
Okay, so this is the Sinfest world which parallels our world, but is not exactly our world. Has there ever been a Sinfest where a character (no main, just any character) displayed Covid symptoms or has there even been a report of deaths from Covid in the Sinfest world? I cannot remember such an inci...

Another Study about Mask Effectiveness
I just ran across this accounting of a study that rated masks versus social distancing: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10283911/Wearing-mask-better-social-distancing-scenario-study-finds.html I thought I would share how I critique these kinds of articles. First I don't consider an article ...

Re: What's Behind Pro-Vaccine Posting on this Forum?
What a world we live in that any sort of bizarre thing someone posts cannot be verified as a real belief or a manufactured statement. That is just how strange a place the internet is and how strange peoples' brains can be. In real life there might be more of a 'tell'. Maybe they can't keep a straigh...

Re: What's Behind Pro-Vaccine Posting on this Forum?
Hmmm. Interesting take. You know I wouldn't call what I have seen on the forum lately a 'pro-vaccine' push. It's more of an 'anti-anti-vaccine' sentiment. In other words what the comments have been on here have been in response to what people think Tat's vaccine view is - and generally the comments ...

Okay.... (takes off gloves).... Glad to look at some science, but the ground rules have to remain consistent. Previously you have discounted meta-analysis (studies that looked at multiple studies) in my sources, so I am going to have to discount them in yours. Fair is fair and we don't want to be mo...

Really not trying to be contentious for contentious sake however: Your second source: https://www.aier.org/article/medical-journal-warns-about-maskss-potentially-devastating-consequences/ Title is: "Medical Journal Warns About Masks’ Potentially Devastating Consequences" This is the Americ...

Re: Another really good and credible thread on how to prevent covid transmission
The UK study is a computer simulation. For actual data, see the study out of India that looked at hundreds of thousands of people. They found that for those under 60, mask effects were not significant. .... Also worth noting is that this study is pre-vaccine and pre-herd immunity; we don't have gre...

Re: Another really good and credible thread on how to prevent covid transmission
So I will just leave this article right here... Social distancing is pointless without a mask, Cambridge University study suggests https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-10234761/Two-metre-social-distancing-rule-arbitrary-not-backed-science.html Within that article is this: There has been fierce...
