Views on male prostitution?

Post by poiuytrewq »

Hello all, I must say i'm a huge fan of the comics, reading since 2010.

It has been a tradition of mine to check the comic every newyears tos ee the death of the new year arc.

I'm really liking this shift since it raises awareness of feminist ideas and the harm patriarchy causes to us all.

But I would like to hear your views on male prostituition, sicne I belive it doesn't carry the same weight on oppression, violence and human trafficking.

I must say that as a gay guy from a third world conservative and religious coutnry where I have seen people being beat up because of their sexuality I'm gulty of engaging in male prostitution.

It was the only way to explore my sexuality in a "safe" environment, without the need of outing myself.

What are your views about that guys?

I'm not trolling this is a sincere question, if it's deemed inappropriate i'lld elte the post, i hope I'm not causing any disconfort or problem.

Cheers. :D

I know from personal experience it gets ignored or people pretend it's not a thing.

Yes, there are differences of scale and there are mitigating factors, but at the heart of it, it's still rape by coercion.

I feel for you, being who you are where you are, but the power differential that makes that safer for johns makes it very dangerous for the (male) prostituted.

Violence is violence and rape is rape. Male pornography and prostitution emboldens the slavers among us and legitimizes their actions. all of that said, I am sorry that you felt so ashamed and alone. I wish you love and happiness and peace.

poiuytrewq,

I'm so sorry for what you've endured. It's horrible that this was the only environment you had to explore your sexuality. I'm with Newfish 100% on her perspective.

Having worked for (not in) the sex trade in advertising, I will reiterate the fact that prostitution is incredibly dangerous for all who are enslaved in it. If you continue to work in the trade, please be incredibly careful!
